Sharjah Tourism Organises Promotional Roadshow In Four Key Indian Cities
(18 October 2016)

The roadshow will cover Mumbai, Delhi, Chandigarh, and Bangalore

Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA) is preparing for a roadshow in India, covering the four major areas of Mumbai, Delhi, Chandigarh, and Bangalore, on October 17-21, 2016.

The SCTDA delegation to the India includes representatives from Sheraton Hotel Resort, Ramada Hotel, Golden Tulip Hotel, Marbella Resort, Hotel Holiday International, Oceanic Hotel – KF, SATA and Air Arabia.

Workshops have been organised for delegates taking part in the roadshow in each of the four regions. The workshops are specifically designed to promote Sharjah as a year-round tourist destination, with numerous cultural, leisure, and family friendly venues. Also on the agenda are Destination Presentations, which aim to raise awareness regarding the emirate’s diverse offerings and rich cultural heritage.

His Excellency Khalid Jasim Al Midfa, Chairman of SCTDA, said: “India remains a top-tier market for us at the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority. Cultural ties between India and the emirate – and the whole region, for that matter – are solid, as evidenced by the fact that people of Indian origin easily make up the largest expat community in the UAE – Sharjah included. What is more, the subcontinent sent 74,707 visitors to the emirate in the period between January and June 2016, cementing India’s position as one of the top five source markets for the travel and tourism sector in Sharjah.”

H.E. added: “With that in mind, India is always a top priority for us when we plan our promotional efforts. We are confident that this roadshow will further strengthen our bonds and attract larger numbers of visitors from India, which brings us closer to our goal of attracting 10 million tourists by 2021 as stated in the Sharjah Tourism Vision.”

Sharjah’s variety of offerings, from sandy beaches and warm weather to family-friendly venues, in addition to its image as an authentic Arabian destination, have all guaranteed its attractiveness to travellers seeking to truly explore the region and immerse themselves in its traditions, identity, and culture. The emirate also offers plenty of attractions for nature lovers and environmental enthusiasts. Sharjah boasts a rich and diverse ecosystem; protected areas form 4.6% of the area of Sharjah and are divided into eight conservation centres – namely, Jazirat Sir Bo Naair, Alqurm Wa Lehhfaiiah, Wasit Nature Reserve, Ed Dhelaimah, Wadil Helo, Mleiha Protected Area, Elebriddi, and Lemdynah.
